Bandera de la Provincia de Negros

In my TL "Filipinas: La Gloriosa y Más Allá", the island of Negros was a Chavacano-speaking province that was united in the year 1887. The capital of the province was, of course, Bacolod, although there are larger towns such as Dumaguete and Cádiz de Negros (OTL Cadiz City). The flag that you see now was officially adopted in 1897, although it was used since late 1895.

The flag, also known as "tricolor negrense", symbolized the history of the island province itself: Blue represented the contribution from Iloilo and the rest of Panay, while marroon/dark red represented the contribution of Cebu.  The sun (or "sol negrense") represented the sunny and happy disposition of the Negrenses.


The tricolor itself was created on MS Paint, the sun was cropped from the OTL flag of the Negros Cantonal Republic  (using Photoscape) and combined on PhotoScape.
