The coat of arms was basically a combination of double-headed eagle, which symbolized the island's Hittite and Byzantine heritage and the shield of the Crusader Kingdom of Cyprus, which bought Latin-Romance elements to ATL Cypriotic culture.
The CoA is used by the Cypriot monarchy (yes, ATL Cyprus is a kingdom, but recently though, since 1990s), while the Cypriot government use the lesser variant (the arms of the Crusader Kingdom).
