- Bandera de la Provincia de Samar
Although Samar is not featured prominently (as of now) in my TL "Filipinas: La Gloriosa y Más Allá", the island-province was well-known for abaca and its related products, particularly copra, as well as the port town of Borongan (OTL Eastern Samar), considered as one of the main Pacific ports. Besides, Samar and neighboring island-province of Leyte is connected by a railway, which was owned and operated by Ferocarriles de las Islas Filipinas (which in turn, absorbed the previous owner Compañía Ferroviaria de Samar y Leyte, S.A.).
The three palms in the provincial coat of arms symbolized the three leaders of the Sumuroy Rebellion (Agustín Sumuroy, Don Juan Ponce and Don Pedro Caamug) as well as the three principal cities of the island-province (Calbayog, Catarman and Borongan). At the top of the crest is the Royal Crown (courtesy of Miguillen).
