Hello everyone!

If you noticed most of my recent submissions to Philippine-related DeviantArt groups, they are song lyrics written in a conlang called Luuk, which is actually a mix of a direct descendant of proto-Philippine language and Malay/Indonesian, with some sparkling of other languages such as Javanese, Tamil, Hokkien, Spanish and English. The conlang is part of my ongoing alternate history project called Mutia nan Katimuran (Pearl of the Orient), which is a chronicle of alternate pre-colonial Philippine history.

From this moment, I'll accept any song lyrics translation request from all of you guys, as long as the song itself is OPM.

Seeyah!

One of the classic Tagalog-language songs was the 1955 classic ballad "Maalala Mo Kaya". Composed by Constancio de Guzmán, it was first heard as theme song of the 1955 film of the same name; since 1991, a modified version of the said ballad is used as the theme of the well-known Filipino drama anthology "Maalaala Mo Kaya (MMK)", hosted by Charo Santos. The modified version was first sung by Dulce; currently, MMK used the theme sung by Carol Banawa.

Well, in this version, the composer and his music will remain the same; the only difference is the language: in the ATL version, the lyrics is written and sung in Chavacano language.

Anyways, here's the lyrics of the ATL version of the classic Tagalog-language ballad, entitled "Di recordate así". The original lyrics can be found HERE. (And apologies if the ATL lyrics are not satisfactory enough.)

Di recordate así
Letra: Constancio de Guzmán y Canseco
Música: Constancio de Guzmán y Canseco

Di recordate así
El tu promesa a mí
De que el amor tuyo
No di morí de verdad

Cuando tu debé entendé
Abrí el corazón mio
Y solo tu rostro
Es allí ta escondé

No di cambiaté así
A el amor tuyo
No, no tanto mi amor
Hasta la tumba

O que bien de sé vivo
Y siempre con la ternura
Esta alegría
Jámas di acabá ya

To all non-Filipino DeviantArt users, the song "Ako ay Pilipino" ("I am a Filipino") is one of the well-known patriotic song from the Philippines. Originally commissioned by former First Lady Imelda Marcos in 1981, it was composed and written by George Canseco, and popularized by singer Kuh Ledesma, who admitted that it was her piece.

As the Philippine Independence Day (12th of June) was fast approaching, I think it's more appropriate to write the alternate history version of this song, entitled "Yo soy un Filipino". The composer and writer would be the same as in OTL, but it's written in Chavacano, rather than in Tagalog. Since the Independence Day Parade of (12th June) 1981, performing this patriotic song has been a must for some of the most popular singers in the Philippines (including Enrique Iglesias in this scenario) in front of the either Governor-General or direct members of the Spanish Royal Family, always accompanied by the members of the Philippine federal government, so it's both an honor and a pressure for the singer.

Anyways, here's the lyrics of the ATL version of "Ako ay Pilipino", entitled "Yo soy un Filipino" (and forgive me if the lyrics are too sloppy). Click HERE for the original lyrics

Yo soy un Filipino
Letra: Jorge Canseco
Música: Jorge Canseco

Yo soy un filipino
Tení un sangre noble
Es inherente en mi
Un esfuerzo tan bello
A Filipinas que es patria mia
Una Perla del Mar Oriente
Un regalo que dá el Señor

El cerebro que dá a mí
Solo por el bien común
A mi es inherente
De sé amoroso

Yo soy un Filipino
Yo soy un Filipino
Una patria y alma
Es mi aspiración
A la patria y bandela
Dedicá mi alma y vida
Yo soy un Filipino
Filipino de verdad

Yo soy un Filipino
Yo soy un Filipino
Yo ta gritá
A todo el mundo
El Filipino soy yo.

After more than five months, I'm back to creating AH version of OPM songs which is related to my TL "Filipinas: La Gloriosa y Más Allá" if it continued well into the contemporary times. The name of the group, Hagibis, will stay like in OTL, but the lyrics are in Standard Chavacano, which is the de facto lingua franca of ATL Philippines. Oh, I forgot, the song was the theme of classic Telesistema Filipina sitcom "Solo Po'que Hombre" (OTL: Palibhasa Lalake). Enjoy!

 Cuerpazo
 Hagibis
